Course Description: A study of the formation of modern world civilizations, from the Napoleonic Wars through the present. Thematic units will cover the rise of imperialism, nationalism, industrialism, totalitarian states and leaders, modern global boundaries, the impact of fundamentalist religious groups, the rise and fall of communism, the economic and environmental impact of globalization, and the role U.S. foreign policy has played in shaping and dealing with the events of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
