Kindergarten students just finished a unit on steady beat and are now working with the opposites: fast and slow.
Their songs are:
Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes
Do Your Ears Hang Low?
The Old Gray Cat
First grade students are labeling ta and titi (long and short sounds)
and So and Mi (high/low sounds).
Their songs are:
Star Light
Here I Come with my Big Bass Drum
Snow Man
See Saw
Second grade students are reviewing the rhythms ta, titi, and ta-ah.
We are using the story Mr. Everybody's Musical Apartment to learn the treble clef note names. We sing, play boomwackers, and play bells while learning note names.
Students have added some recorder playing as they learn higher notes in Mr. Everybody's Musical Apartment!
All Classes use the Music Rules Songs
Make Good Choices (Frere Jaques)
Make good choices, make good choices
In everything you do, in everything you do.
When you do your very best, your teachers will all be impressed.
And others will, too. And others will, too!
Use Kind Words (Twinkle, Twinkle)
When the words you use are kind, lots of friends you're sure to find.
If your words are kind and true, others will be nice to you.
When the words you use are kind, lots of friends you're sure to find.
Show Respect (Hot Cross Buns)
Show respect, show respect
Classmates, teacher, and the music
Show respect
Involve Yourself (A Sailor Went to Sea)
Involve yourself in music time, for sitting out would be a crime.
Just actively participate, and when you do, you will do great!
Care for Our Room & Instruments (If You're Happy and You Know It)
If you care for our room clap your hands.
If you care for instruments, clap your hands.
When you take care of our things, lots of fun and joy they'll bring.
If you care for our room, clap your hands.
All Rule Songs were Created by Lindsay Jervis and are published on TeachersPayTeachers.com
In Music Class, I use the following scoring system:
4=you can do more than what is expected
3=you can do it
2=you're so close
1=let's practice more
I use these numbers for musical knowledge and behavior.
